Dating St. Andrew's

As part of the restoration work undertaken in 1999, a dendrochronological analysis of the timber in the roof beams was undertaken by English Heritage to establish the date of the building.

The analysis suggested there were three phases of timbers in the nave roof. The earliest dates from 1363. The second from 1454-1480. The third phase dates the present roof to c.1512. This places a date on the "Doom" to c.1512 (i.e. contemporary with the roof).
